Slow Extension Rate Test Series is an equipment measures the characteristics of material tension when corrosion under high temperature and high pressure. The mechanism of stress corrosion cracking appears Active path dissolution, Hydrogen embrittlement and film-induced cleavage.
SERT (Slow Extension Rate Test) is used to measure the characteristic of extension when corrosion in high pressure and high temperature. The load is varied to maintain the constant extension rate. While extended, the material is exposed to an environment (temperature, specific fluid, etc.). The method evaluates the corrosion behavior of the material in the given environment, often the environmental effects on the material fracture or stress-corrosion cracking susceptibility.

Purpose of Tensile Test |
Tensile testing is a fundamental materials science test in which a sample is subjected to a controlled tension until failure. The results from the test are commonly used to select a material for an application, for quality control, and to predict how a material will react under other types of forces. Properties that are directly measured via a tensile test are ultimate tensile strength, maximum elongation and reduction in area. From these measurements the following properties can also be determined: Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, yield strength, and strain-hardening characteristics
* Stress
Significant stress may exist even when deformation is negligible (a common assumption when modeling the flow of water) or non-existent. Stress may exist in the absence of external forces; such built-in stress is important, for example, in prestressed concrete and tempered glass. Stress may also be imposed on a material without the application of net forces.
* Strain
Strain also means deformation that in continuum mechanics is the transformation of a body from a reference configuration to a current configuration. The picture is about gage length change when pressurized, we can calculate the engineering strain. where ΔL is the change in gauge length, L0 is the initial gauge length.
