SERT [Slow Extension Rate Test]
SSRT is used to measure metal corrosion and change caused by inner stress or residual stress while stress corrosion cracking. Slow stain rate test is a method of testing of materials, often metals, in which the specimen is subjected to elongation at a constant rate.

SERT is used to measure the characteristic of extension when corrosion in high pressure and high temperature. The load is varied to maintain the constant extension rate. While extended, the material is exposed to an environment (temperature, specific fluid, etc.). The method evaluates the corrosion behavior of the material in the given environment, often the environmental effects on the material fracture or stress-corrosion cracking susceptibility. Hydrogen damage often occurs in a large number of metal degradation processes due to interaction with hydrogen. While that pitting phenomenon usually cannot be noticed, the cracking can occur in very shorter time than tress corrosion cracking. HDT is just the suitable equipment for this phenomenon research.

Atomic power system's most important problem is material exposure in corrosive environment. And therefore, reactor design that can withstand high temperature, high pressure and corrosion is overriding. CTRS is corrosion testing equipment for these corrosion resistant reactors.(Read more) |
